Kraton styrenic block copolymers (SBC) form an integrated part of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE-S) compounds that are being used for overmolding comfort grips on consumer products such as toothbrushes and razors to improve aesthetic haptics or wet grip performance. The materials combine the processability of thermoplastics with the property set and feel of thermoset rubbers. Kraton continuously improves product offerings by developing new materials with a variety of hardness values, improved processability, increased overmolding adhesion and better mechanical characteristics.
Soft touch TPE-S compound grades for personal grooming products have easy-to-process viscosities, retain consistent color and exhibit excellent adhesion to a variety of rigid plastic substrates. Product selection can be made from our performance products (USBC polymers) or specialties (HSBC polymers) portfolio. For applications requiring improved chemical and UV resistance with better tensile properties, high molecular weight HSBC polymers (Kraton™ G1651, Kraton™ MD1537, Kraton™ G1641 or Kraton™ G1633) are recommended for overmolded grips with increased durability and ergonomic feel.
Kraton™ G SEBS polymers are second-generation styrene block copolymers (SBC) featuring outstanding durability and strength with good processing stability. Formulations can be made with these polymers.
