Kraton strives to provide the industry with biobased alternatives to fossil-based materials, at better or at least equal performance, but at lower carbon footprint. Compared to other vegetable-based alternatives, our products enable the saving of up to 10 times the C02 equivalent emissions. They also offer the benefit of not being genetically modified, not edible and our feedstock does not compete with land for food crops. We conduct life cycle assessments on key products, through a third party, which provides insights of a product’s environmental footprint from cradle to gate.
Kraton is the world’s largest producer of pine chemicals and specialty resins based on crude tall oil (CTO). With more than 90 years of bio- refining experience, our pine chemistry enables numerous industries to replace non-renewable resources with high-performance, biobased alternatives. CTO is a natural material with a much lower carbon footprint compared to other known vegetable alternatives. Controlled by chain of custody, the feedstock offers other key benefits:
