ACHIEVING SUSTAINABILITY TOGETHER
HOW KRATON COLLABORATES WITH MKS MARMARA TO IMPROVE RESPONSIBLE PROCUREMENT
MKS Marmara, headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey with 190 employees, is a leading manufacturer and global exporter of pentaerythritol. Founded in 1976, the company also produces sodium formate, formurea, urea – formaldehyde resins and melamine formaldehyde resins.
In 2019, Kraton requested MKS Marmara to complete their first Ecovadis assessment to get a clear picture of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices. After receiving an invitation for the assessment, the Management Systems Administrator at MKS Marmara reviewed it with internal stakeholders from the Environment, Occupational Health & Safety and Foreign Trade departments. To ensure accurate responses to the EcoVadis assessment, the questions were distributed to each department according to its expertise. The Management Systems Administrator served as the point of contact to efficiently manage the data collection process. When questions arose, the company leveraged the Ecovadis Help Center for assistance. Before finalizing, the Quality Assurance Manager reviewed the content and then submitted it to EcoVadis.
MKS Marmara believes it has benefitted from obtaining the Ecovadis score, which provided insight into how they are performing against peers. It also included a detailed overview of strengths and improvement areas in four categories: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. Because of the time and effort invested into this assessment by their internal stakeholders, MKS received a Certificate of Recognition from Kraton. As demands for sustainability increase globally, Kraton and our suppliers will continue to collaborate to deliver exceptional value by enhancing responsible procurement capabilities throughout the value chain.
