CirKular+ ReNew
Advancing the Circular Economy Through Renewable Polymers

Enabling a Sustainability through Value Chain Partnership
Advancing a circular economy requires collaboration across the value chain. Kraton partnered with Saudi Arabia Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) to develop the CirKular+ ReNew Series, helping customers reduce reliance on fossil-based materials while maintaining the performance and quality required for demanding applications.
挑战
Manufacturers and brand owners face increasing pressure to reduce their environmental footprint and incorporate more sustainable materials into products. However, renewable alternatives must deliver the same processing characteristics, performance, and reliability as conventional materials to gain broad adoption. The plastics industry continues to address issues related to recyclability, post-consumer resin quality, and the limited reuse of mixed plastic waste streams. To make meaningful progress toward a circular economy, companies need scalable solutions that reduce dependence on fossil resources while fitting into existing value chains and manufacturing processes.
创新
Kraton partnered with SABIC to develop the CirKular+ ReNew Series, a new portfolio of renewable styrenic block copolymers produced at Kraton’s Berre, France manufacturing facility. The series expands Kraton’s CirKular+ portfolio designed to support circular economy initiatives.
The innovation combines SABIC’s renewable butadiene from its TRUCIRCLE ™ portfolio with a mass balance approach that allows renewable and fossil feedstocks to be used within the same production process while attributing renewable content throughout the verifiable bookkeeping. This enables customers to incorporate renewable content into their products without compromising performance or quality.
Designed for consumer durable, automotive, and adhesive applications, the CirKular+ ReNew Series helps compounders, formulators, and brand owners reduce fossil-based materials while supporting their sustainability goals. The portfolio also complements Kraton’s broader CirKular+ solutions, which address challenges related to plastics recyclability, post-consumer resin quality, and the reusability of mixed plastic waste.
Key Findings
The CirKular+ ReNew Series contains up to 100% renewable content and is produced using renewable butadiene derived from second-generation feedstocks. According to the source material, each ton of renewable butadiene can reduce fossil depletion by up to 80%.
The portfolio enables customers to utilize a mass balance approach to incorporate renewable content into products while maintaining performance and quality. By combining renewable feedstocks with established manufacturing processes, the solution provides a practical pathway for reducing fossil-based material use across multiple applications.
Highlights
Conclusion
The CirKular+ ReNew Series demonstrates how value chain collaboration can accelerate circular economy progress. By combining Kraton’s polymer expertise with SABIC’s renewable feedstock capabilities, the partnership provides customers with a practical pathway to reduce fossil resource dependence while maintaining product performance and quality.
