Personal Hygiene Absorbent Products
Comfort, fit, and reliability are key properties for personal hygiene products like diapers, training pants, adult incontinence, and feminine care products. To achieve these features, manufacturers of elastic films, nonwoven fabrics, and end-use products rely on Kraton elastomers to produce elastic films and fabrics with an unprecedented soft stretch, comfortable feel, and excellent fit.
Kraton product families support the production of personal hygiene materials, offering stretch functionality through multiple processing technologies, including blown or cast films, spunbond or melt-blown nonwoven fabrics. These polymers can be processed readily on standard equipment, do not require drying, and can be downgauged to improve product costs.
Kraton™ D styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block copolymers are economical materials that combine strength and excellent elasticity to efficiently produce elastic films. It also features low viscosities for easy thermoplastic melt processing.
Kraton™ D styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) thermoplastic elastomers are high-elasticity materials with soft stretch and the lowest viscosities of the styrenic block copolymer (SBC) family. These grades are ideally suited for formulating diaper adhesives and elastic films.
Kraton™ G styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene (SEBS) polymers with enhanced rubber segment (ERS) are designed with a unique rubber segment that is easy to process, produce ultra-soft, bi-axial stretch, breathable nonwoven fabrics for applications such as adult incontinence underwear.

Styrenic block copolymers (SBC) are integral to thermoplastic elastomer (TPE-S) compounds used for overmolding comfort grips on consumer products like toothbrushes and razors. Our materials offer the processability of thermoplastics combined with the property set and feel of thermoset rubbers. We continually develop new materials with varying hardness values, improved processability, increased overmolding adhesion, and better mechanical characteristics to enhance our product offerings.
Our soft-touch TPE-S compound grades for personal grooming products have easy-to-process viscosities and maintain consistent color while exhibiting excellent adhesion to various rigid plastic substrates. Choose from our performance products (USBC polymers) or specialties (HSBC polymers) portfolio to meet your application requirements. For applications that require improved chemical and UV resistance with better tensile properties, we recommend high molecular weight HSBC polymers like Kraton™ G1651, Kraton™ MD1537, Kraton™ G1641, or Kraton™ G1633. These polymers provide overmolded grips with increased durability and an ergonomic feel.
Kraton™ G SEBS polymers are second-generation SBCs with outstanding durability, strength, and good processing stability. Formulations can be made with these polymers to meet specific application requirements.
