Kraton offers advanced, engineered synthetic elastomers that are designed to meet stringent requirements of medical devices while eliminating health concerns from plasticizers and resolve Type I allergies caused by natural rubber. Our polymers and polymer-modified systems can replace natural rubber or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) but are formulated without PVC, phthalates and plasticizers.
Kraton enhanced rubber segment (ERS) styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene (SEBS) polymers offer improved processability and flexibility. These polymers are highly compatible with polypropylene (PP), allowing the formation of extrudable and moldable compounds with improved flow and reduced hardness without plasticizing oils. The ERS SEBS and PP blends can withstand most sterilization methods and are well suited for producing high-clarity medical bags, tubes and flexible films.
Kraton hydrogenated styrenic block copolymers (HSBC) are used in single or multi-layer medical films.
Learn MoreIn the past, the medical industry replaced many of the glass bottles used to hold IV fluids and medicines with polyolefin containers.
Learn MoreKraton SEBS polymers are ideal for flexible medical tubing due to its low Shore A hardness, high polypropylene (PP) compatibility and ease of processing.
Learn MoreKraton styrenic block copolymer (SBC) polymers can be formulated into a variety of elastomeric compounds that are flexible, stretchable and elastic for wide range of medical devices.
